In India there are total are 29 states and seven union territories. Every state and union territory has an administrative, legislative and judicial capital simultaneously . Administrative capital is where the offices of the executive government are situated whereas legislative capital is where the state assembly converse and judicial capital is where the territorial high courts are based . Every states and two union territories, Puducherry and the National Capital Territory of Delhi, have an elected form of government and legislatures. It is headed by a Chief Minister who is elected for a term of five years. Other union territories are ruled by the Central government.
